The existing brick detached house was set on a large plot of land and the client’s desire was to create an annex to accommodate his elderly mother. His requirements were to create a home where she could enjoy reading and the surrounding landscape while living close to his family. The site has over two meters of level difference from the front to the rear and so our approach was to create an open plan space on the first floor to maximise the views of the surrounding landscape and allocate other necessary spaces on the ground floor.
