The site contained two steel-framed agricultural barns and a link to a small traditional stone barn. The client’s brief was to convert the stone barn into a home and the second barn into a rental holiday home. Our design aim was to maximise the views of the picturesque Kniveton landscape and create homes that had internal and external connections to the surrounding landscape. By including a double height space at the centre of the barns, we were able to create a spacious central area linked to the other part of the barns, with a bridge to maximise the experience of the surrounding setting.
The design for this project was developed while working at Planning & Design.
